MH and AR asked if they could make “that water and cornstarch stuff." We found a recipe and made a batch of what they found out was called "oobleck". The children measured out the ingredients of cornstarch and water and mixed them together. "It is a little too watery"…they decided they needed to add more cornstarch. Once they had the perfect consistency, they noticed how they could make a hard ball in their fist. When they let the mixture go it would turn back to a liquid! This caught the attention of other children in the program, and they too tried out to make a batch of oobleck. The children continued to experiment with the oobleck by adding paint to create different colours of the mixture. They also used different measurements of water and cornstarch to create different textures.
